Although the church is not a large congregation, it is a committed gathering of disciples of Christ professing a Triune God: The Loving Father, The Redeeming Christ and the Empowering Holy Spirit.
St. John's of Martinsburg is of the Reformed persuasion and its mission is clear - to use the Bible as our road map for life and to follow Christ's commandments to‚ "love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind . . .and to love your neighbor as yourself." (Matt. 22:37-39)
Mission and outreach are an important part of our identity. We believe that we are to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in our community and in the world.
As disciples of Christ, we have the task of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ and the Unconditional love of God, "‚who sent His only Begotton Son, Jesus the Christ, so that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but may have eternal life." (John 3:16)
At St. John's, we are an Easter people who witness to the Cross of Jesus Christ and His victory over death through His Resurrection from the dead.
The Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion are open to everyone who is seeking a relationship with the Lord.
The simplicity of our Sanctuary is enriched by an unusual set of memorial windows depicting Biblical characters and other figures from Ecclesiastical history. These windows are an inspiration to our worship and a reminder of our past and the hope of the future. We want to send our love to all people and to pray for the peace of Christ Jesus for all the world.
Please, stop in some Sunday and join us in worship.
