As we look back over the past year, we often do the -- would have, could have, should have kinds of thinking, along with the if only's. Alothough it is good to reflect for insight and learning, pondering this to omuch isn't always a good thing. There will always be things we wish we did differently.
What is important, is to ponder the things we want to accomplish, do differently, or experience, in this new year.
Our personal attitude has a lot to do with how we live our lives.
During this past year, we talked much about discipleship and what the marks of discipleship are. If we are attentive to these, then our attitude toward the new year should be a positive one.
Weekly worship alone helps us remain focused on who we are and studying God's word, reminds us of our purpose as His people. When we fellowship with one another, we lift each other up and help one another through the good and the tough times, nurturing one another in body and soul.
When we reach out and help others, we realize that many of our concerns or problems are not as great as we thoguht.
When we are faithful in our giving for the minsitry of the church, we are acknowledging that we have a mission on earth, that we have a inistry.
When we pray, we not only keep the communication lines open wiht God, but also intercede for one another.
All these things help us to keep a right attitude about our life, the life of the church and the community in which we live and serve.
When we practice the marks of discipleship we are aware of our blessings. AS we grow in our discipleship, we will not be able to help notice how blessed we are.
I don't need to wish you a Blessed New Year -- cause I know you will have one - for you are Blessed!!
